So, once again, after a 2 week hiatus, ITT is back in session. A quick update to my schedule, which is quite relevant to my previous post - is that the offending teacher was mysteriously - and I have to believe - coincidentally dropped from my schedule. I digress…
On my way to school this evening I had determined not to start in with the cynicism - a great and optimistic thought, without a doubt. But of course, ITT was equally determined to squash my optimism.
First day of class, and one of the two books (one for each class) is unavailable. Maybe not a huge gripe - heck I don’t usually even open the book for the first few weeks anyway. But maybe my point in writing this - as the teacher speaks on - is to point out the consistently systemic problems of this school.
It’s entirely too early to start in on a rant with the fervor of my previous post. Will this quarter be different - aside from the books issue?
We shall see…
UPDATE: It’s been about an hour since I posted this entry, and lo and behold - either the administrators are reading my blog in real-time or the Gods of scholarship have smiled upon me! The Dean of the department walked in with the book for this class! Supposedly from his ’secret stash’ - which I don’t quite get - but it doesn’t really matter. I now have a book - which I’ll write about in a few weeks, once I’ve actually removed the cellophane from it.

Like you, I decided to start the quarter optimistically. It was no surprise to me when I read that you didn’t receive your books at first. In fact, I stood in line for 15 minutes in front of the bookstore before I found out that one of my books (the book for the class I was missing to pick up my books) was out of stock. That makes… let’s see… 8 quarters in a row where I did not have all my books by the end of Week 1.
When I mentioned this to the head of our department, his solution was to grab the book from my classmate’s hands and rip out the first three chapters. He turned to my classmate and said, “I’ll get you a new book,” then turned to me and stated, “Hang on. I’ll make copies.”
At least one person is proactive in the administration.
That’s hilarious - I would think you were kidding were it not for the fact that I was sitting next to the person who had the pages to be copied ripped out of his book. Good stuff.
It shocked the hell of out me too when our dean walked in with more books, me personally I actually wanted to hear what you had to say on here if you hadn’t gotten your books, lol. Oh and the pages literally ripped out of the book thing was hilarious. This school never fails. Keep blogging Jit.
