Day 1 has thus far been uneventful. Justin and I are sitting at our gate awaiting the Alitalia flight due at
3:00 (departing 3:40). We (well… I) were uncharacteristically early in getting out of the hotel and to the airport. Arriving well before the actual check-in was even open. In order to get a good place in line (ultimately second) we sat directly across the Alitalia check-in location. Justin snapped off a few pics which really capture how vacant
the airport was when we first got here. While he was off taking pictures I was sitting a few seats away from a sleeping member of the TSA (to my right in the pic). This wouldn’t be remarkable were it not for the fact that he farted in his sleep. Evidently loudly, or forcefully, enough to wake him up and make me move over one additional seat.
After checking in we proceeded through security to our gate. Apparently, for international flights,
there is no bar/restaurants inside the gate area. Of course we found this out after getting all but naked to get through security - actually Justin did get naked, but that was more of a personal choice. Immediately after getting to the gate - with two hours to spare - we decided to go back out and eat. A few minutes ago we finished our Uno’s pizzas and came back through security to our gate. I paid $7 to have Internet access here for the next two hours as we wait.
